About Dr James Whittlesey

: Most of the time the doctor gets all the information about the patient, but the patient doesn’t know much about the doctor. I would like to change that.

My full name is James Burke Whittlesey. I was born in Greenbrae, California. I graduated in 1986 from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California. And I have spent the last 23 years doing post-doctoral work on how to find and correct the causes of chronic health problems. I have two great sons Alex and Nick and a cat named Fuji. Alex is an aspiring theater arts and sociology major and Nick’s passion is soccer. We love camping, snowboarding, surfing and music.

I was lead to become a healing practitioner because at age seventeen I suffered a severe injury. I was passionate about rock climbing. I intended to photograph my upcoming Yosemite and Mt. Hood climbs. Outside the camera shop I noticed the building had a very interesting facade and in my enthusiasm decided to climb. Six feet up the side of the building I reconsidered and jumped back to the sidewalk severely injuring my foot. This was to be my first big summer of climbing. The injury put an end to my career as a climber and mountaineer. I felt that my life was ruined. I desperately went to many doctors. No medical treatment helped me from casts to surgery. While waiting for my friend at his chiropractic visit, I asked the doctor if she could help me. Miraculously, her chiropractic care finally helped get me back hiking and into the outdoors.

My recovery gave me back my physical vitality and my passion. My passion was now to help others as I had been helped. I want to help change the world. I believe with all my heart in the principles of alternative healing. The body is a natural system like the ocean or the forest, taking care of itself unless there is some stress, interference or deficiency. If you remove the stresses, the interferences and correct the deficiencies, the body will come back into balance, healing itself.

I believe with all my heart in how I practice and always strive to improve. My unique practice provides
our community with much needed quality natural health care, integrating bio-mechnical, environmental, nutritional and stress reduction techniques developed by the finest minds in these fields. I want you to refer your family and friends to me because I hate for people to live in the dark when there is an answer. We must spread the word to help people that are suffering needlessly, taking unnecessary drugs, when there are natural solutions.
